Dear Friends and Family,
Racing has finished and I am back in the states. I finished 18th overall, so around the middle of the group. Although this is not the result I hoped for, I would like to thank you all for your continuing support and giving me the opportunity to compete on the world stage. It was a great experience and I learned a lot about how to compete at such a high level. Thank you all.
Best,
Walter Banfield
Welcome to My Rally Campaign
My name is Walter Banfield. I began rowing as a skinny freshman at a tiny high school in rural Wake, Virginia. I grew up working on my family’s small farm and have trained hard alone with my high school coach for seven years. I now have been fortunate enough to win trails, gaining the opportunity to go from that small school to represent the United States overseas in the U23 World Rowing Championships.
However, I need support to afford to compete. My goal is to raise $9,000 to cover training, travel, and equipment costs for my coach and me. I would be very grateful for any contributions.
My Team
Although it will just be the two of us (my coach and me) going to Rotterdam, Netherlands to represent USA as the Lightweight Men's 1x, we could not have made it this far without the support of others. I would like to thank our family and friends for their enormous support up to this point, and Taylor Black for all of his help at Dartmouth.
Join My Team and Spread the Word!
I would also like to thank everyone who supports our effort to compete at the World Rowing Championships this summer. This skinny Dartmouth kid from Wake will row his heart out with a devoted coach. I hope you can help make our dream of a life time possible.

Dear Family and Friends,
Tomorrow I depart for the World Championships in Rotterdam. With nearly thirty entries in my event, including several coming directly form Rio, I will have 4-5 races. It will be some very intense racing as I strive for the podium. Thank you all for your continuing support as I go to match up against the best in the world. Non-of this would have been possible with out all of you. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Walter Banfield
